How tall is the tallest ferris wheel?

The tallest ferris wheel in the world is located in Las Vegas, NV. The High Roller, as it's aptly named, stands at a whopping 550-feet tall and has 28 glass-enclosed capsules that offer mesmerizing views of the city skyline. Each capsule holds up to 40 individuals and can be at full-capacity during busy times of day.

The High Roller was officially opened on March 31, 2014, and offers passengers sweeping views of the Strip below with open-air cabins. Each cabin is fully air conditioned and equipped with eight bench seats where visitors can take in the sights while touring above Las Vegas. Riders of the High Roller can enjoy sweeping views from every direction when ascending or descending from their 30 minutes ride aboard the ferris wheel .

The High Roller isn't just about its impressive size. It also holds a place for history—it was once an iconic feature of old roller coaster designs that provided an aeronautical experience for riders. The original "High Rollers" consisted of 16 connected rings that would spin together as riders soared across a sky-high track. In fact, many popular roller coasters today still feature these type of vehicles—including those found at Six Flags Great Adventure and Universal Studios Orlando .
